Melissa Brody is a true artisan. what began for her as a child in her mother’s kitchen baking tasty home made desserts and breads was a love of creating delicious works of art as an outlet for her abundant creativity and flair. starting her training in baking at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, her passion grew beyond breads and danishes. she relocated to Toronto to continue her studies at Liaison College in baking and pastry arts. Melissa graduated as valedictorian and top of her class. following her formal schooling, she was the assistant and head pastry chef at several leading hotels and restaurants in Toronto and the surrounding area, including Edulis Restaurant, Byblos, Antler Kitchen & Bar, Piano Piano Restaurant, and Seven Lives. Honing her skills in these prestigious positions, Melissa finished her apprenticeship and received her journeyman certificate and the coveted red seal in baking and pastry arts. Melissa used her vast experience and training to open cakes with attitude in May of 2007. She quickly earned recognition for amazing tasting cakes crafted with a unique style and her winning hospitality towards her clients. she doesn’t rest on her laurels, however. Melissa is continually taking classes with renowned experts and cake artists to stay abreast of new techniques and changes in the cake industry. Melissa brings a unique perspective and welcoming personality to the art of cake. Her background in art, sculpturing and a taste for fashion allow her to envision designs that are unique and one of a kind.
